China's first large peony-themed costume restoration show held in Luoyang

On the evening of the April 14, the first large-scale costume restoration show with peony as the theme was held in the North Square of the Peony Museum on Longmen Mountain, at the southern end along the axis of Luoyang City.

"This is the first large-scale dress restoration show themed on peony in China." Hu Xiao, head of the art team of the Chinese costume restoration studio, said that in order to restore the peony-neon clothes, 30 unearthed pottery figurines were used and studied as prototypes one by one for textual researches. At the same time, well-known paintings Luo Shen Fu (ode to goddess of the Luo River) and Zan Hua Shi Nv (beautiful ladies with hairpins) were referred to in the restoration of life scenes in the Song Dynasty. In doing so, the cultural relics preserved for thousands of years are now "revived" in this millennial ancient city, showcasing the classic beauty of Chinese clothing and charms of traditional culture to more.

It is noteworthy that Peony Museum, the venue for the show, is located in the south of Nanshan Peony Cultural Park in Luoyang. The museum, standing 69 meters high and 307 meters above sea level, is seated at the southernmost end of the city axis and is also the highest landmark along the axis.

Now, the Peony Museum is speeding up the interior decoration and construction for exhibition. It will be open to the public upon appointment according to the progress of the project and the construction of the Park. At that time, visitors will not only enjoy the rich peony culture in the museum, but also climb upon the top of the architecture for a bird’s view of Luoyang and feel the unique charm of the ancient capital.
