In order to further promote brand building of "Culture City of East Asia" and the development of urban culture and tourism in China, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China launched the application and review of 2023 – 2025 "Culture City of East Asia" in April. The preliminary review listed Luoyang as a candidate of 2023 "Culture City of East Asia" in August.
Hu Dapeng, Director-General of Luoyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, noted that the establishment of "Culture City of East Asia" echoes the spirit of Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations, Joint Press Statement of Trilateral Summit Meeting among the People's Republic of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea, and China-Japan-South Korea Cultural Ministers' Meeting. It is an international review event co-hosted by China-Japan-South Korea Cultural Ministries, being the only international review event launched by Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China. As from 2021, the event will annually choose 2 cities from China, and 1 city from Japan and South Korea respectively.
Currently, all preparations for establishment have been progressing steadily.
According to the standards of establishment and delivery, Luoyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism has shown the division of work in the Ledger of Establishing "Culture City of East Asia." It will, together with relevant departments, provide data, organize activities and coordinate work in a highly efficient manner, so as to further contribute to the establishment of "Culture City of East Asia".
